2008.11.05[JoongAng Daily]English station to provide translation
BBB Korea has signed an agreement with Transportation Broadcasting System, TBS,
to provide interpretation for people who call the station for traffic information, TBS said yesterday.
The translation service will be offered to listeners of TBS’s new English-language radio station eFM, at 101.3MHz,
which will be launched on Dec. 1. BBB Korea’s 3,000 volunteers will be mobilized to handle the calls.
People in the Seoul metro area can call (080) 800-9595 for traffic information,
and volunteers will translate the conversation between the TBS employees and the callers, 24 hours a day.
With the opening of TBS eFM, the company will have four channels. The other stations are: TBS Live FM, TBS TV and TBS Visual DMB.
BBB, which means “Before Babel Brigade,” provides around the clock translation in 17 different languages.
