[THE KOREA TIMES] Walk festival for foreigners will be held in Seoul May 20

A walk festival for foreigners, co-hosted by free interpretation service provider BBB Korea and the Ministry of Justice will be held in central Seoul on May 20. The "BBB Walk Festival" in celebration of the 3rd Together Day will be held alongside Cheonggye stream in downtown Seoul, BBB said Friday in a press release. Officials from the ministry, foreign diplomats and hundreds of Korean citizens as well as expats are expected to participate in the annual event, it said. Those applying to take part in the event through BBB Korea's homepage (www.bbbkorea.org) by May 19 will be exempt from paying the participation fee. For on-site registration, the cost is 3,000 won. "Together Day" is an annual national commemorative day established to create a social environment in which people from various ethnic and cultural backgrounds are able to freely connect and mingle together in a friendly setting. "BBB has been contributing to make a better Korea while overcoming cultural and language barriers here by providing a round-the-clock interpretation service based on a volunteer network for the last eight years," it said. "We hope locals who participate in the Walk Festival have the opportunity to understand foreign nationals staying in Korea while trying to appreciate language and culture differences." 05-07-2010 18:44 By Park Si-soo Staff reporter
