Designated by the government on May 20th the day is celebrated to help many foreign expatriates living here in Korea expand their networks. On this meaningful day a volunteer network named BBB Korea, which provides free interpretation services hosted a walking festival together with the Ministry of Justice. More than 1-thousand foreigners and local citizens participated in the event hoping to make Korea more foreigner-friendly. [Reporter : ] "At the festival held under the theme of 'Making Korea Become One Without Language Barriers,' participants from all over the world got a chance to make new friends while strolling along the Cheonggye Stream." The shining sun and the day's hot temperature did not stop the participants from completing the walk. [Interview : ] "I'm so hot and sweating but it felt really good because all the people from all over the world gathered together and excercised on this hot day." Being able to enjoy the soft spring breeze under the bridges and take a break from their busy lives visitors enjoyed spending quality time outside while mingling with others. Yet, as if the breeze was not enough to cool them down some looked for other ways and even chose to jump into the water. At a time when there are more than 1.2 million foreign residents living in Korea BBB Korea wishes to carry out the event so that more Koreans can embrace foreigners. [Interview : ] "We hope this event could represent the globalized era which we live in now." Together Day which is now in its third year was indeed a special day not only for foreigners in Korea but also for locals as they found themselves smiling together with their neighbors of different nationalities.
